Are we there yet?

I began writing this up this this morning, then as the day went on and changed, so did the post.

It’s so easy to loose sight of the things that you have been blessed with. Do you have a roof over your head? You’re better off than most. Do you have a stable job, and can pay the bills, and buy things when you want? Even better than most everyone alive.

But everything is relative, and it’s easy to get jealous of the things that others have. Maybe you’re not where you want to be in life, or maybe you’re struggling to find your place. Personally? I have but one goal; make enough money to buy us a piece of land in the mountains. And when I see others, and their fancy houses, that they own, and then I compare that to us, and we still rent…that’s where it gets dangerous.

You can’t be compared to anyone else. I forget this constantly, but then I start to pray, and be thankful of the things that I do have. Even though I may not be where I want to be in life…yet.

I’m thankful to have a family, and a beautiful and patient wife. I’m thankful to be a father to the most amazing kids on the planet. I couldn’t imagine things any other way in this regard.

And for that reason, it makes me richer than any other man around, and when you think of it like that? You’ve made it.
